For buy some food, clothings or essential things and is at 10 min of the apt but like must stores in Santiago be aware and don't go with a big bag or pursue because they don't allow people to enter in the stores with them, you have to stored them on a designated area beside the entrance door & they give you a ticket with an specific number for pick up your pursue back after finish your shopping. Also there is a lack of shopping bags in almost all stores so bring yours or ask to your host if they can give you some plastic bags for going to shopping.
