Ormond Castle is the best example of an Elizabethan manor house in Ireland. It was built by Thomas, the 10th Earl of Ormond in the 1560s. A lovely day out and the guided tour is just lovely and really personal thanks to the guides. Just a 30 minute drive from the Cottage.

The only remaining medieval manor house in Ireland. Mint condition and attached to ruined medieval castle. This is a must to visit. It is unique in Ireland.1 hour from the castle
