This is a great little state park right in the heart of the Madison area! It has some well-maintained hiking trails with lovely views of prairies and lake Mendota. It features swimming and play areas for both families and their dog companions. It is the perfect place to enjoy a picnic lunch or an evening on the pier fishing,

This is probably the closest park to us with lots of scenic trails, some water access, and a really nice big picnic area. It's also quite the cross country skiing location once the snow hits the ground.
