Historically important and with lovely views and walks this is a great place to visit. Grab a coffee in the visitor centre.

Recommended by Dave. A great Historic Scotland attraction and very close by. Children can dress up as princesses or knights and "storm" the castle up the hill! There is also a fun question sheet for the children to fill in and learn about the castle history. Good exhibition and excellent cake in the visitor centre. Although not attached, there is also a children's playground just behind the visitor centre and car park. Free parking but watch out - it's easy to miss the turning into Winehouse Yett in Dundonald!

Enjoy the views of Troon on your way to exploring the haunted castle.

A short steep walk up to the ruined castle is worth it as the views are spectacular and a viewpoint gives info. Child friendly and perfect for hide and seek. A snack/coffee shop is run by volunteers.

Dundonald Castle is truly one of Scotland's hidden gems, tucked away in the quiet, rural landscape in South Ayrshire.
