Nice place for swimming, having lunch and taking walks. Sea turtles also like visit this beach. Highly recommended to bring water shoes. (or to by out here)

The snorkeling here is amazing. There's a lifeguard and it's safe behind the bowies.

Richardson’s Ocean Beach Park is the black sand beach closest to Hilo. It is the best choice for snorkeling on the East side of the Big Island. Richardson’s is also a great place to bring kids with its tide pools, calm water and picnic area.
