At just 1 mile drive garage to parking, this fabulous long stretch of sand is another must-see. Dogs and children welcome! One of our all-time favorites for a quick sunset picnic/ happy hour.

Nice broad beach. Fun to go to Padaro Beach grill after.

Backed by beautiful beach homes, this broad, soft-sand beach in Carpinteria is a local hot spot on summer weekends–especially for families. Dog owners will also be happy to know that their pooch is welcome, as long as it's on a leash. All kinds of water sports are popular here, and the gentle swell is great for beginner surfers, boogie boarding, paddleboarding, and body surfing. You can stock up on gear at one of the rental shops and surf shops along Santa Claus Lane, which borders the beach. When you feel like a bite to eat, head to Padaro Beach Grill, also on Santa Claus Lane, for tasty burgers and fish tacos in a garden setting. Kids love the sandpit packed with toys. Access can be a little tricky. You can park along Santa Claus Lane, just off Highway 101, but you have to dart across the railway tracks to access the beach.

A local favorite, Santa Claus Beach is one of Santa Barbara's best kept secrets. Made up of a wide stretch of soft white sand, Santa Claus is actually located in Carpinteria, a sleepy beach town just a short drive (or long bike ride!) from downtown Santa Barbara. Santa Claus gets great, mild waves for all sorts of ocean fun: paddle boarding, boogie boarding, general frolicking etc... The shore offers a shallow, gradual entrance. There's limited shade, so bring an umbrella. Restaurants, shops and board rentals are nearby. Free street parking is first come, first serve.

A bit of a drive, but worth it if you are looking for a beach with lots of sand for the kids. Also be sure to grab some lunch at Padero Grill.
