The Byblos Castle has distinguished historical buildings for neighbors. Nearby stands a few Egyptian temples, Phoenician Royal Necropolis and the Roman amphitheatre. These are testament to the varied and rich history of the ancient city of Byblos
Byblos Citadel is a castle in Byblos / Jbeil. It was built by the Crusaders in the 12th century from indigenous limestone and the remains of Roman structures. Inside is very interesting museum showing the Phoenicians alphabet which was the first people on earth who where using letters to communicate and which became the base for the Latin alphabet that we know today. Also the Phoenicians was the first to build ships and sailing of to the sea and oceans. This is why it is said, that Byblos holds also the oldest port in the world. The garden surrounding the castle is beautiful and is perfect for pictures. Entrance is 7.000LL (around 5$) stand 2017
