Set in the heart of Romanesque Burgundy, Paray-le-Monial attracts thousands of visitors every year. Known for its Basilica, a masterpiece of twelfth-century Cluniac art, the fame of the City of the Sacred Heart extends around the world. In the 17th century, Christ appeared three times to a young nun from the convent of the Visitation, Marguerite-Marie Alacoque, and bared his heart to her. She was given the task of spreading his message to the world: “This is the heart which has so loved mankind”. Pilgrims came here to rediscover in the Sacred Heart the meaning of their own lives and for a powerful spiritual experience.

There are plenty of big food supermarkets and a big health food store in Paray. It is a 25 minute drive. You can also shop in La Clayette and St Bonnet De Joux, where there are supermarkets and about a 15-20 minute drive.
