The Water Museum, held by EPAL, SA – Empresa Portuguesa das Águas Livres, is made up of four spaces scattered throughout the city of Lisbon, all of them buildings related to the supply of water to the city of Lisbon, dating from the 18th and 19th centuries: the Águas Livres Aqueduct, the Mãe d’Água das Amoreiras Reservoir, the Patriarcal Reservoir and the Barbadinhos Steam Pumping Station.

Barbadinhos Steam Pumping Station (Water Museum), where the history of Lisbon‘s water supply is traced, from Roman times until the present day and particularly the Águas Livres (Free Water) project.
Opened to the public in 1987, the water museum is housed in a former pumping station and contains four huge steam engines dating from 1880.
