Tarn Hows is a must see part of the Lakes. Stunning scenery and an easy circular walk around the water. National Trust car parking.

Only 8 minutes drive from property to Tarn hows Stunning Tarn Hows offers an accessible circular (1¾ miles) walk through beautiful countryside with majestic mountain views. A great place to walk and picnic, or to begin your wider Lake District countryside adventure. There are also rare Belted Galloway cattle and sturdy Herdwick sheep grazing t by the tarn. There is a mobility scooter available for use for those who are less able to get around the Tarn.

Beautiful scenery and a easy walk. Start at tarn how's National trust car park, approx 2 miles around the tarn.

This picturesque National Trust Tarn is only a 15 minute drive from Graythwaite Estate. There's a gentle loop perfect for all abilities which can be extended by several other adjoining footpaths for those looking for a longer stretch. We'd recommend heading to The Little Ice Cream Shop in Hawkshead after or The Queens Head in Hawkshead for a well earned portion of chips!

Many Lakeland postcards picture Tarn Hows, a little north east of Coniston. It is so beautiful one would imagine an eighteenth century landscape gardener must have been responsible. Beautiful all year but especially so in autumn as the leaves turn to red and gold.
