Rent a bicycle here to move around the city easily. Note: locals ride fast and have no mercy when it comes to inexperienced people on a bicycle - sorry about that...it's a cultural thingy i suppose. My advice: - wear a helmet - always indicate whether going right/ left - use the special bicycle paths, usually red and stay on the right side. - maybe practice a little in tranquil noord ;)

Fietsreparatie Amsterdam - Buiksloterweg 5c (under the Tolhuistuin restaurant, in front of Amsterdam Central train station, at the other side of the water!) Very friendly serivce, normal budget. Take the short ferry at the back of Central Station, rent a bike, and bike 10 minutes to the cosy houseboat along the IJ-waters. Or take the ferry (free) to NDSM-warf and walk 7 minutres to the cosy houseboat.
