Rare in the world of hot springs, the Morere Springs produce 250,000 litres a day of hot ancient sea water. Known for its therapeutic values. It is definitely worth taking a walk on any of the various walks in the Morere Scenic Reserve, from 10-minute walks up to three hours. Especially famous for its nikau palms, the dense virgin rain forest is home to a wide range of native birds.

Mōrere Hot Springs - the perfect activity for a cooler days! The Mōrere Hot Springs are a rare example of natural salt water hot springs. They produce 250,000 L per day of hot, mineral-rich sea water, which has long been sought after for its therapeutic and curative properties. The water emerges from a fractured fault that crosses the Mangakawa valley, 300 metres upstream from the Nikau Pools and is piped to a variety of public and private pools set amongst native rain forest.

This place is about 40mins drive from The First Light, but worth every minute in the car. You have hot and cold pools along with a breathtaking walk through a native NZ forest to get to the main set of hot pools - either a 30min or 8 min walk is available to get to this gem.
