This little-known gem is a storefront cinema showing old and new docs with socially relevant themes. I've personally programmed films at Maysles, which also partners with the Studio Museum in Harlem on nonfiction films. The cinema has strong ties to the local community, which is reflected in its educational series and youth film clubs. Maysles has a suggested donation ticket system.

An amazing independent theater that often has directors, cast, and crew come in for interviews, panels, and exclusive showings. They offer lots of programs from movie making workshops to screenings.

Small cinema founded by Albert Maysles. It shows current documentaries several times a week. Pay what you can.

Very cool film center..."is a Harlem-based nonprofit organization committed to community, education, and documentary film. We use filmmaking to amplify and expand under-represented artists and narratives, while empowering young filmmakers in creative self-expression, communicating ideas, and advocating needs."
