Cultural Centre is home to two excellent state art galleries, an amazing library featuring stunning views of the city and one of Australia's top museums. About 350 metres away, it's also the quickest way to reach the Brisbane River for a very scenic walk along the boardwalk to South Bank.

Excellent rainy day option! The museum, modern are gallery and theatres are down by the river in south Brisbane. Walking distance to Southbank so you can spend the whole day there if you want! All day parking is $17 under the cultural centre with is much cheaper than Southbank. There is some free road parking at the weekend around south Brisbane.

The sprawling Cultural Centre complex directly across the river from the city and adjacent to South Bank includes the Queensland Arts Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art (or QAGOMA, as they’re known together), State Library, Queensland Museum, Queensland Performing Art Centre and Queensland Theatre Company. The galleries and concert halls all feature ticketed events, but there are truckloads of gratis options— local exhibitions, film screenings, talks, and music performances — and the sheer scale of the complex means it’s a great place to spend a couple of hours simply soaking in the atmosphere.
