Treeline in Alaska is about 3,000 ft, and Eureka Lodge is right there, located at Eureka Summit, which is the highest point on the Glenn Highway. There are several trails leading into the Nelchina Public Use Area near the lodge, which makes it a popular snowmachining destination in the winter months. Eureka Lodge is a basic, roadside cafe that is open year-round for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food is good, the service is quick, and the pies are all homemade. Eureka Lodge is 26 miles northeast of our cabin, on the Glenn Highway. From the summit (on clear days) you can see four different mountain ranges - the Alaska Range, the Wrangell Mountains, the Talkeetna Mountains, and the Chugach
