The north end of the beach is fronted by a low curving wall that’s an always-changing display of street art. Further south at Lincoln Way, there’s another one worth checking out. Just bring an extra layer—no matter what the weather is like in the rest of the city, out here you might walk into a fog bank so thick you can't see the water. At the north end of the beach near the Cliff House restaurant, take a look inside the Camera Obscura—a rare device that uses sunlight to project an image of the outside surroundings onto a surface inside. It’s based on a 15th century design by Leonardo da Vinci.

Go here on a warm day to see San Francisco iconic Ocean Beach. In the summer evenings its legal to have a bonfire, so check online and bring your own wood!

What could be better than San Francisco's premier surfing spot only minutes away? Keep an ear out for the many festivities that happen here year out: things like morning yoga, Bay to Breakers, and Corgie Con!

• 4 hour roundtrip, 3 miles from home - Get the N Judah train, 7 bus, or walk, to Ocean Beach at the end of Golden Gate Park - Enjoy the Dutch Windmills, and check out the sand dunes - The beach can get quite cold / windy, particularly at night, so dress warm!

I love ocean beach. You can usually find free parking parallel to ocean highway on the opposite side of the ocean. Walking through the sand can be a bit tough but it's worth it. On a clear day you can see forever and the water is nice and emerald green/blue nearer the shore the water is clear…

Parke
“What to say? One of the great parks of the United States. Just head down the hill to Kezar Stadium (at the very bottom of Willard Street) and you'll see the GGP right beyond it (walk around Kezar to the west to enter the park). You can also enter on Stanyan and Haight (and at many other points). Enjoy the Academy of Sciences, de Young Museum, Japanese Tea Garden, Stow Lake, the Conservatory of Flowers (great night time light shows in the summer and winter) and many, many other features of the park.”
