When you have a great big bridge, you have to have a great big Troll under it. The Troll is also near Fremont, a neighborhood with shops and things you just won't find elsewhere. It has become much more brick and mortar in the past 10 years, but there's still a special feeling about Fremont that appeals to your inner hippie. (Hence, the Troll.) Fremont is a nice place to walk or bike on the Burke-Gilman trail. Go west toward Ballard along the Ship Canal waterway to the Sound. Go east to Gasworks Park, the UW Campus and all the way to the north end of Lake Washington.
