10 minutes down the road. The longest free ferry in North America. A wonderful way to get out onto the water and experience the breadth of the lake. There are a lot of artists businesses to explore at the other side!

The ferry between Balfour and Kootenay Bay is free - the longest free ferry ride in the world! The views along the way are beautiful.

This free car ferry across the lake to Crawford bay is a 5 minutes drive from us. A 35 minute crossing takes you across the lake with stunning views.

The longest free ferry ride in the world AND the most beautiful! Worth the trip even if you're not heading in that direction- just go for a ride back and forth on the ferry. Gorgeous views of Kootenay Lake and the mountains/glaciers
