Although the roads within the park are all unsealed, I highly recommend making the trip if you can. The Avon River runs through the park, and although it falls to little more than a trickle in high summer, during winter it runs and is a sight to behold. Especially when the Avon Descent is on. NB: Sappers Road within the Avon Valley National Park is CLOSED over the winter months for safety reasons. The condition of the road is unsuitable for even 4WD access. Therefore there is NO VEHICLE RIVER ACCESS within the Avon Valley National Park. The nearest river access is Cobblers Pool - located off Lovers Lane (now sealed) in the Shire of Toodyay. There are walk trails, camping spots, and picnic facilities all within the park. However, the nearest phone and food outlets are all located within the township of Toodyay itself. Great for bushwalking. Facilities: Picnic tables. Toilets. Camping (fees apply): Avon Valley campgrounds have wood barbecues, picnic tables, and pit toilets. Water is available at Bald Hill, Drummonds, Valley Camp, and Ces Barrows camping areas. NB: Please check fire restrictions as fires may be prohibited at certain times for safety reasons. Pets: Pets are NOT permitted in the park. Open: 7 days Best times to visit: Autumn, winter and spring:- summer the temperatures are too hot, and access is sometimes limited or closed.
