Recently re-opened as a park and trail, the old railroad tunnel through Afton Mountain was an engineering feat led by Claudius Crozet in the 1850s. Bring a headlamp.

Easy hike on graveled trail, but walking through the tunnel is a highlight you won't soon forget. Make sure to bring a flashlight as the tunnel is pitch black inside!

Amazing!! Excellent, level trail for hiking that recently opened to the public. Historical old railroad line about 1 miles long and has two access points. Trail leads through an old railroad tunnel. It's awesome-just remember to dress warmly and bring a FLASHLIGHT! It's pitch black inside the tunnel-but lots of fun!!
