The Banknote Museum of the Ionian Bank is housed on the first floor of the historic building in which the first Branch of the Ionian Bank in Corfu opened in 1840. Το Μουσείο Χαρτονομισμάτων της Κέρκυρας στεγάζεται σε ένα από τα πιο ιστορικά κτήρια της Παλιάς Πόλης, στο κτήριο της Ιονικής Τράπεζας, που ήταν η πρώτη ελληνική τράπεζα, το 1839, όταν τα Επτάνησα βρίσκονταν υπό Αγγλική Εποπτεία. Το 1981 στέγασε το Μουσείο Χαρτονομισμάτων, που θεωρείται σήμερα ένα από τα καλύτερα στον κόσμο στο είδος του.
