Mineral Ridge is a short 15/20 minute drive down HWY 90. This hike is more demanding than walking Tubbs Hill. The hike is about a 3 mile loop. First half is UPHILL through the woods with some of the best views of Lake Coeur d'Alene on top. There are benches along the trail to sit and relax or just breathe the fresh North Idaho air. The other half is all down hill (please wear appropriate shoes AND bring water in summer months). This trail in the Fall, Winter and Spring can be very cold, windy and muddy. Dress warm (lots of snow in winter so do be careful).

A 3.3-mile path that is an outdoor classroom in the forest. There are 22 stations numbered along the trail identifying features found naturally at Mineral Ridge. The trail climbs 735 f to an elevation of 2,875 feet for a spectacular view of Lake Coeur d’Alene and the surrounding mountains. The trail begins at Beauty Bay and is accessed off Highway 97.

Beginning at the junction of Interstate 90 and Idaho 97, the route travels south along the eastern shoreline of Lake Coeur d’Alene, home to bald eagles and the largest population of nesting osprey in the Western states. Take a break and stretch your legs on the Mineral Ridge Trail, which offers panoramic views of the lake, as well as several learning stations describing the area’s botany and animal life. This area, as is much of ID is home to a variety of wildlife, including majestic eagles, moose, deer, elk, bear and numerous bird species. The route continues through gentle hills and dense forests to the charming town of Harrison. This byway ends at Idaho 3, where it meets the White Pine Scenic Byway and its southern route to the Palouse.
