This is another really beautiful hike, further out, through well established forest. In the summer it can be insanely crowded, but there's a reason: the water slide. It's so fun to ride the river without a boat, thousands of people do it every year. If you're going on a hot summer day, take your patience with you. But even if the crowds scare you away the rest of the hike is just lovely.

Denny Creek trail provides a beautiful Northwest hike without much driving effort to get too. You begin under the I 90 freeway but within minutes you are deep into solitude (assuming you hike during the week) and a lush forest headed to a spectacular creek with options of continuing on to some lakes farther up the trail.. much farther.
