Psili Ammos is located near the famous palm forest of Vai.It can be accessed via a short footpath that starts in Vai and circles the hill on the east end of Vai. Walking does not exceed 5 minutes and the beach is definitely worth visiting. This small beach is very beautiful, with fine sand and crystal clear water. It is usually empty, thus it is ideal for seclusion and nudism. The name Psili Ammos means "fine sand" in Greek and refers to the sand that covers the whole area. Indeed. the beach is formed at the end of a narrow valley that is covered with huge sand dunes. The water has a characteristic turquoise colour, making this beach one of the nicest secluded beaches on Crete. There are no trees on the beach, thus you should have an umbrella with you. If you get hungry, don't worry because Vai canteen is in walking distance. The wider area is protected, due to the rare palm forest of Vai, thus there are no touristic facilities around (taverns, hotels and rooms).
