This beach is why our location is so special. Motukiekie beach is not only photogenic but also geological. It is recognized as one of the top 5 beaches in New Zealand. We can't say it often enough but try and stay at least 2 nights or you will miss out. Access the beach 2 to 1 1/2 hours before low tide and return about 1 1/2 hours after low tide. If you get caught by the tide, there is a track behind the cave rocks opposite the sea stacks. Fortunately, the beach has not been discovered by the crowds. You may see a seal please keep a distance they are not used to guests. This is also a home for little Bleu Penguins but they come home late and you may only see footprints.
