Mwnt beach is a sheltered sandy cove, owned by the National Trust. This popular beach is off the beaten track but can still get busy in the height of summer. The single track road leads over a cattle grid as the view opens up below over Cardigan Bay. The steep steps leading to the beach make it unsuitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs, but the refreshment booth can still be reached. There is parking in a field above the beach. Although swimming conditions are considered safe at Mwnt but there is no lifeguard service here. A well-trodden path circles Foel y Mwnt, leading to the top of the hill which overlooks the beach. The circular walk from Cardigan or Mwnt is part of the Wales coast path which passes along the cliff behind Mwnt beach. Mwnt is a haven for wildlife, one of the best places in Ceredigion to spot dolphins and always popular for days out on the beach. Go to Mwnt to enjoy this hidden cove’s golden sand and rolling waves. Located about 4.5 miles north of Cardigan town centre on the Mid Wales coast, you’ll drive down country lines to be presented with dramatic views over Cardigan Bay upon arrival. To reach the beach there is a series of steps leading down to the sheltered sandy bay. You can also reach the beach by walking the local stretches of Wales’ Coastal Path. Mwnt is an ancient holy site and it's picturesque and startlingly simple Church of the Holy Cross (Eglwys y Grog) dates from the 14th century when it served as a sailors' chapel.

There is a large pay and display car park above the beach and a shop and toilets partway down the path leading to the beach. The Cardi Bach bus service calls at Mwnt in the summer twice daily. The picturesque Church of the Holy Cross (Welsh: Eglwys y Grog) sits in the meadow above the beach.

Mwnt is an idyllic spot on the Ceredigion coast, with sweeping views across Cardigan Bay from the summit of the conical hill (Foel y Mwnt) that rises above the sheltered sandy beach. The beach itself is reached by steps alongside a tumbling stream.Mwnt, including the beach, is one of several sites managed by the National Trust in this area. Mwnt has been voted a top beach on countless occasions. Acclaimed by the Daily Mail as one of "Europe's top ten loveliest, hidden beaches", and selected by Country Life as a great place for a picnic, Mwnt was also recognised as one of the National Trust's top 'Special Places' in 2014 according to a public vote. Need we say more? You can walk along the coastal path from our accommodation directly to Mwnt, taking in the magnificent scenery as well as the odd dolphin & seals!
