Originally laid out between 1696 and 1705, this is the only restored Dutch style water garden in the country. Visitors can explore canals, clipped hedges and working 17th-century vegetable plots and discover many old varieties of fruit trees.
Open from March to October, these fascinating, but truly peaceful gardens date back to 1696. The gardens are beautifully kept by head gardener Jerry Green, not forgetting Ella and all the volunteers. I have the honour of working there some weekends!
You can explore canals, admire clipped hedges and see 17th-century vegetable plots growing through the seasons. There's a dedicated picnic area over the bridge, so why not make some sandwiches, pack your rug and book your visit?
