Urridafoss is one of the lesser known sights in Iceland as the tour buses are unable to reach it (yet). This waterfall has the greatest water volume of all waterfalls in Iceland.

Urridafoss waterfall is in the river Þjórsá. The river is the longest river in Iceland, 230 kilometers, and the waterfall is the most voluminous one in Iceland. The river is on the edge of Þjórsárhraun lava field which make the whole scene majestic. The lava field is from the greatest lava flow on earth since Ice Age. It’s ideal to make a stop at Urridafoss on your way toward the South Coast, since the location is only 800 meters from Road 1 (19 km. east of Selfoss City). Distance from the cottage is 43 km (26 mi).
