This is out near Littlte Pond and will take probably an hour or so to get their - but if you want to teach your kids how to fish - this is the place to do it. They have stocked ponds so everybody catches something! The staff will help with cleaning so if you don't know how to do that - no worries! Once you have taught your kids how to fish you are all set to take on any stream in the Catskills - and there are many. Fishing is a great sport. The season on fishing is April 1 - October 31.

A fish and pay pond and roadside stand are open April 1 to Labor Day, Weekends 8AM-5PM. Fresh and Smoked trout is also available for purchase. The oldest and largest private trout hatchery in New York originally started as a hobby by Fred Shaver, a dairy farmer, avid outdoorsman, and hunter. 55 years and 5 generations later, Beaverkill Trout Hatchery is remotely located in Catskill State Park on 180 acres and continues to be family-owned and operated. Managed with unrivaled expertise by Fred’s great-granddaughter Sherry Shaver and her sons, the fish farm is fed by natural springs and well water and has up to 200,000 baby trout at any given time. Harvesting eggs from their own stock, the Shaver family hatches rainbow, golden rainbow, brown, and brook trout. They are also entrusted to populate local rivers, streams, and ponds throughout the region and many neighboring states.
