If you want the world’s best grilled chicken sandwich ever, I recommend Terry’s Place. It is a favorite for the locals. Warning, it is sort of a dive bar, nothing fancy, so don’t get dressed up lol, but has the best chicken sandwich ever! Bring an appetite and use some napkins, it is huge and messy but absolutely delicious and worth the 9-minute drive. The owner makes his own bread for the sandwiches every morning. Terry’s Place, 4121 NE 36th Ave, Ocala, 34471, rated 4.4 stars

Just 6.0 miles from The Horseman's Retreat, Ocala offers a quaint, walkable downtown. Farm-to-table dining, craft beer, some live music and shopping, it's all here. Downtown has an actual town square, a large paved octagon surrounded by trees and a historic gazebo that doubles as a stage for live performances. An eclectic group of eateries surround the square; Mark's Prime (steakhouse), Harry's Seafood Bar & Grille, The Lodge Brick City Craft Pub & Eatery and Brick City Southern Kitchen and Whiskey Bar for barbecue. You can venture virtually any direction from the square and find cool stuff. You'll see art galleries, boutiques and even more restaurants. A quarter mile south of the Square, on Saturdays from 9:00am - 2:00pm, you will find the Ocala Downtown Market which features locally grown produce, handmade crafts, plants, food vendors, a playground for kids and all the other stuff a weekly outdoor market should have. The downtown nightlife offers several options on and and near the Square; Infinite Ale Works provides a wide variety of beers, Pi on Broadway offers great food and drinks, and the Courtyard on Broadway just to name a few. PARKING DOWNTOWN: There is minimal parking directly on the Square, however Ocala offers a multilevel parking garage just one block from the Square, located at 504 SE Broadway Street, Ocala, 34471.
