Walk around your neighbourhood and you'll find volunteer-made ice sheets open to the community. Go for a skate, or watch/play some local pickup hockey.

Typically hosted at the Museum of History in February - you don't need to be a beer lover to attend this event. You'll come for the festive atmosphere with live bands on stage, folk acoustic sing-a-longs in the yurt, bon fire and food trucks, maple taffy (tire d'érable), wool blankets, and snow sledding, and one big party!
For the beer connoisseurs, this is the place with dozens and dozens of regional microbrewers. Plus distilleries, cocktails and mocktails, and even gin tasting classes!

Cabane au Sucre/Sugar Shack (March/April)
When the snow begins to melt during the day, but it still freezes overnight, is when the tree sap begins to thaw and run in the trees. This is prime MAPLE SYRUP season!
All around Central Canada, little log cabins get the wood thrown in the fire and the sugar farmers begin to boil the sap into the fine delicacy treat called MAPLE SYRUP!
There's dozens and dozens of these places throughout the region. The best ones are your friend's family's personal sugar bush, or the one requiring a day trip or a months in advance reservation just to get a seat at the table.
