The American Tobacco Campus was a working tobacco factory built in the late 1800s and it still has one of the original train cars on site. It was the Lucky Strike cigarette factory in 1901.
Today it is a mixed use development, home to restaurants and cafes, numerous businesses (including Burt’s Bees), WUNC public radio, the Full Frame documentary film festival, Duke University offices and private apartments.
Registered as a National Register of Historic Places. It is an interesting, historic landmark that is well worth the short walk and taking the time to visit.
