A favorite beach with crystal clear shallow waters and white sand!! Enjoy fresh appricot juice or lunchtime cocktails in the sun, while listening to soft music! Sunbeds can be offered to non-Sani-resort-residents, but keep in mind that it is pretty expensive.

Athitos or Afytos (in just 15 km distance from Sani) is one of the most picturesque villages in Halkidiki and is very different to anything else around it. The village has its own architectural style, with old stone-built houses, coming straight from previous centuries. Stroll down the cobblestone alleys and relax at one of the traditional taverns. The village overlooks the peninsula of Sithonia and offers a fantastic view to the Toroneos Gulf. It’s a relaxing way to pass the time and you can also make the best of the turquoise waters and relaxing beach bars. Visit the Church of Saint Demetrius! Constructed in 1858, this beautiful church is located in the square of Afytos. It has a unique architecture with three arches and a tall bell tower. Moudounou is the main beach of Afytos. This sandy beach stretches for 4 km and is known for its crystalline waters and the hill surrounding. It has organized areas with water sports facilities for scuba diving and fishing. There are beach bars and small taverns on the beachside, but for those who prefer more peaceful places, there are some deserted coves at the northern end of the beach. The area around the beach is perfect for long hikes into the mountainous countryside. You can also visit interesting sites, such as the Folklore Museum of Afytos and the ancient quarries of Moudounou.

The Simantro Beach - a family-friendly setting - has an ideal sandy beach gulf where pine trees reach down to the coast. Shallow waters are perfectly safe to swim for both adults and children. I highly recommend it for a very very early swim when the sun rises or at sunset! The usually peaceful water is crystal clear and with no other people at this hour, it's perfectly calming! You can use your own umbrella and sunbeds, but in case you haven't Simantro Beach Hotel has always some available. The Mastrali Beach Bar (at the edge of the Simantro beach) is situated on a terrace and is open from early in the morning until late in the night, serving coffee, sweets, snacks and a variety of refreshments. Don't forget to try out water sports: waterbike, boat trip or even scuba diving! Late in the evening, you may find a few amateur fishermen holding their rods or handheld lines, sitting on the shore or diving their small boats into the sea.

Visit the old traditional café (kafeneio in Greek) at the main piazza near the church in the village Nea Fokea and enjoy the all time summer favorite spoonful of vanilla paste called Vanilla Submarine (ypovrichio in Greek)!! Vanilla (or Mastica) Submarine is a snow white toffee-like gummy sweet paste, made of milk, cream, sugar, glucose and some drops of vanilla or/and mastica oil. It is served wrapped around a spoon (the bigger the spoon, the better!) and submerged into a tall class of ice cold water. This white spoonful sweet is called a vanilla submarine because it is served "under water"! One of Greece's most simple, yet wonderful desserts which brings back childhood memories! Try it! It's childishly fun to eat!! You can also visit the St. Paul’s Tower, an old Byzantine fortress, which is likely to have been built in 1407. It dominates on the hill at the right side of the port. In front of the beautiful long beach, fish taverns with yummy grilled sardines, marinated octopus and fried squid (kalamarakia) are definately important in order to taste Greece! The fair of the Apostle Peter and Paul in 29-30 June is interesting. The mass takes place in the church of St. Paul, which is located at the entrance of the village. Let me point out that the village has lost its traditional beauty due to the uncontrolled construction of block of flats.

Set around a spectacular surrounding overlooking the old castle of Mende, Possidi is regarded a charming place that attracts many tourists during the summer for its tranquil landscape and laidback life. The beach is dotted with cafes, restaurants, beach bars and taverns that provide day long refreshments. At one side of the beach, there is a tall white lighthouse, the symbol of the village. The lighthouse was originally built in 1864 but has been restored since then. It is built in the colonial style and is the only building along the beach of Possidi. You can also visit the ruins of the ancient city of Mende, which was founded by the settlers of Eretria in the 8th century BC. The city, located on the hill slopes south of Kassandra, became famous for the sanctuary of Poseidon which counts among the oldest sanctuaries in Greece. It was used as a place of worship from the till the 2nd century B.C.

Polichrono is a quiet charming village, located between the villages of Kriopigi and Hanioti. It has a number of music bars, super markets, bakeries and craft shops. The beach is awarded with the Blue Flag every year for being organized and clean. Trani Amoudia Beach is one of the best beaches in Sitonia and it is situated nearby Ormos Panagias. Turquoise, crystal clear waters and smooth sand with more enough space to put your parasols and towels are expecting you! There are a lot of cafe near the beach where you can order your drinks! On the northern end of the beach there is a small cape where you can find the remainings of an old Byzathium tower. Archaeologists believe that it used to be the location of the Antique town Sigos. The only tiny disadvantage is the lack of natural shade, so bring your umbrella! Mount Athos Cruises depart from Ormos Panagias. Find more information on Athos Sea Cruises.

Kalogria Beach, located in about 5km south of Nikiti, is a wonderful, very popular beach that sits amidst the lush pine forests. Having a length of about 500m, it is one of the most beautiful beaches in Halkidiki due to the clear turquoise blue water, fine soft sand and green hills covering the back of the beach. The sea is mostly very shallow, so it is ideal for families with children, but also for those who like to float on an air mattress! The rock has excellent snorkeling and don’t be surprised to see many novices learning how to dive. You can lie down on the hotel sunbeds at either end of the beach, or you can bring your own. A couple of nice taverns and bars that sit by the beach offering drinks and snacks. You can also rent water tubes and bananas.
