Looking to hit the bars and local night life but keeping it close to home? H street is the place, lots of different bars from Irish pubs, to the eclectic H St Country Club and Lil' Miss Whiskey's. It's an ok easy walk, but I would uber or taxi down, even metro to NoMa metro stop and walk from there and Uber or taxi back for sure.
