Get the train to Chingford from Walthamstow and head right out of the station, ten minute walk and you're in the forest with miles of trails to hike or bike. Great cafe at the Elizabethan Hunting Lodge. Or if you drive you can go deeper into the forest to find tucked away places.
Easy cycle or 30 minute walk down to the vast wild marshes full of rare birds and wild flowers. The river Lea cuts through lined with colourful house boats. Loads of lovely walks along the river or round the marshes. Cafe's on the canal by the bridge or up through Springfield Park which is the other side of the river in Hackney.
