The Fortress of Civitella is the largest in Italy, the second in Europe after the Hohensalzburg in Salzburg, Austria. It is located on the top of a rocky cliff, being about 500 metres (1,600 ft) long and 45 metres (148 ft) wide, for a total surface of 25,000 square metres (270,000 sq ft). Other sights include the following churches: San Francesco (founded in 1326), in Gothic-Romanesque style, while the interior is Baroque San Lorenzo, remade in Baroque style in the 18th century but maintaining the Renaissance façade. Santa Maria degli Angeli (15th-16th centuries) Sanctuary and Convent of Santa Maria dei Lumi (1466). It includes a Romanesque portico and a polychrome wooden statue of the Madonna dei Lumi, dating to 1489. Abbey of Santa Maria in Montesanto. Founded, according to the legend, by St. Benedict of Nursia in 542, in the 12th century it was one of the most powerful abbeys in the region; it started to decay from the late 15th century...

The central historical part of the city is built in marble called travertino, a grey-hued stone extracted from the surrounding mountains. Its central Renaissance square, Piazza del Popolo ("Square of the People") is considered one of the most beautiful in Italy. According to traditional accounts, Ascoli Piceno was home to more than two hundred towers in the Middle Ages: today some fifty can still be seen. You can visit the Caffè Meletti, in Ascoli Piceno’s Piazza del Popolo, which is considered the “congress” of anisetta. With its Art Nouveau decor, this is indeed the most noteworthy “institutional” place where the anice-based liquor, first manufactured by a businessman called Silvio Meletti, can be enjoyed. Here, since the early 20th century, the first item on patrons’ agenda is always the “anisetta con la mosca”, literally meaning “with the fly” – the “fly” being a roasted coffee bean, immersed in the sweet alcoholic distillate. Hemingway, Mascagni, Guttridge, Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir were amongst the most illustrious “representatives” that enjoyed the locale. The people of Ascoli Piceno consider the square and this building – built in the late 19th century to accommodate the town’s Post Office, and transformed by Meletti in an elegant commercial operation between 1905 and 1907 – a unique venue for social life.

The splendid City of Loreto, tucked inside the countryside of the Marches Region, owes its fame to the Sanctuary (or Basilica) where the Santa Casa della Vergine Maria (Shrine of the Holy House of the Virgin Mary) is preserved and venerated. It is a holy place defined by Pope John Paul II as “the true Marian heart of Christianity.” The sanctuary has been one of the most important pilgrimage sites for the Catholic faith for centuries, having been visited by approximately 200 saints and beatified persons, as well as by numerous Popes.

In Giulianova Spiaggia you will find the Place called Costa Verde Mare, excellent sea food! Any other restaurants: Abruzzo is renowned for it cuisine. Depending on what you want to spend, for example there is one at the entrance of the motorway between a pharmacy and a mechanic, called Dolce & Co. Dolce and Co = we spent (4 people) four pasta dishes, water, two cokes, two desserts = 40 € Villa Clesia, is not expensive and very good. Podere Marcanto, where no menu is shown, they just serve the food, excellent! And non expensive. Borgo Spoltino, 5 minutes by car, but is a bit more expensive (40&50€ per person) Breaking business Hotel, it is also very good, nearby there is La Vecchia Stazione, a small restaurant that only serves sea food, not expensive at all. Ristorante Lago Paradise.
