Small and no seating but do yourself a favor and pick up a piece of the Twisted Chocolate cake. Solid choice for $5. Then walk straight across the street and have a seat at the park to munch down your yummy dessert.

Because it's delicious and affordable. Counter seating only, I do not recommend the sweet potato fries as they are a little too soggy for me. Everything else is good.

Cute little coffee shop at the top of the 178th st. stairs. You will get a workout going up the stairs and then reward yourself by having a seat and getting a good cup of coffee. FYI, closes early.

Because it's open 24 hours, super cheap, and delicious. This is a local dominican hangout, I suggest you do not go by yourself late at night, as there are several bars in the immediate area and sometimes the outside clientele can be a little skeevy. Otherwise, it's the shiz. Order a small coffee ( be prepared for a ton of milk and sugar unless you tell them otherwise!), a sandwich for $3.50 (!), or Trés Leches cake. FYI, spanish will take you far in this place and it's cash only. Be nice, polite, don't expect frills and you'll get taken care of. This is one of my favorite places to go!

Tons of walking trails leading to the Cloisters, you can take a blanket and sit in the meadow, very popular on the weekends and afternoons with locals. Don't go early in the morning or late at night, it's a park.

This is a dominican social club that is free on Fridays, playing only DJ salsa music from 12 a.m. - 4 a.m. If you're a woman I suggest you do not go alone. But feel free to come with me and prepare to be entertained by the crowd at least if not by the dancing. FYI, you will need earplugs and again, if you're a lady, prepare to be hit on. I don't drink but the beer is cheap if that's your thing and after you're done dancing there is a taco truck right outside the door where you can fuel up on late night food for $3.00. Delicioso!
