AFURI ramen is different from ramen you’ve had elsewhere. It’s lighter, refreshing—even a little delicate. We’re particular about all our ingredients—but there’s one ingredient in particular that makes AFURI ramen special. We make our signature ramen with yuzu, a small yellow citrus fruit native to Asia. We splash it in our fresh chicken broth and we garnish it on top, too. It adds a touch of freshness to our ramen and pairs perfectly with our broth and charcoal-grilled pork. We think of it as a thoughtful, refreshing update on everything that makes ramen so great.

It’s based on the basic virtues of good, hearty food — including plenty of excellent seafood, shipped direct from the fishing ports of Nishi-Izu — plus a fine selection of sake and shochu. The fully bilingual menu is a major plus for the foreign community, and everyone loves the very reasonable prices.

Botejyu is one of the long-standing Okonomiyaki restaurants from Osaka. I also recommend this restaurant because apart from the Japanese menu, there are English, Chinese (2 kinds) and Korean menus. On top of that, there are details of the ingredients. It’s nice for people with allergy and also Halal and vegetarian people.

Come night in the fashionable area of Ebisu, a glaring neon sign unexpectedly signals the narrow entrance to Ebisu Yokocho. The long alley is lined with compact akachochin taverns, all crammed with a lively crowd. Each of the taverns is unique, so the best idea is to bar-hop and enjoy several of them.

If you like meat, Niku Yokocho or “Meat Alley” is where it’s at. An indoor bazaar of various meat eateries with a somewhat street food/festival atmosphere. It has everything from raw beef sushi, to churrasco. The discerning cheapo will plonk down at Niku Rakuen (AKA “Meat Heaven”) for it’s 980yen 100% Wagyu burgers.
