Wired Cafe
Just the best coffee I have ever found. Full stop.
Amazing Japanese cuisine - much closer to the genuine food from Japan than the yo-sushi simplified stuff. Great for takeouts or sitting in. Can get a bit pricey but worth it for a treat.

For a romantic night out this place can't be beaten- Down a side street in the beautiful georgian new town you go downstairs into a mirrored belle époque style restaurant, and the cuisine is stunning.

A unique place, great to take kids - they make exquisite milkshakes and treats, and Mary herself is very friendly! My girlfriend went to university with her.

Sandy Bell's is one of the great folk music venues in Edinburgh, known by musicians and lovers of traditional music worldwide. Old fogeys are playing here every night - it's great!

Unleash your inner nerd! My parents took me here when I was seven, I had so much fun - lots of little plastic models you make and paint yourself. Great trip if you have a young boy aged 7-14 (and up!)
