Goodwill Park has Falmouth’s only freshwater public beach. Surrounded by town forest, Grew’s Pond is a favorite spot for many, especially families with small children, and local fishermen too. A town lifeguard is on duty in summer. Parking is ample and does not require a sticker. Restrooms are also available. Within the park’s 86 acres, visitors may choose to play volleyball, horseshoes and other lawn games, or go picnicking, kayaking and canoeing. A new playground on the west side of the park was built in 2016. Two pavilions are available for public use, as are the fire grills throughout the park. Wooded paths connect Goodwill Park to the trails around Long Pond, which is popular for walking, running and mountain biking (and for occasional cross-country skiing and snowshoeing). Access to Goodwill Park is by way of Gifford Street, about three-quarters of a mile north of the intersection with Jones Road. The main parking area is about .3 mile in on the right. The park is open from 10 AM to 8 PM daily.

The Shining Sea Bikeway (SSB) was named by my sister at the age of 6 in a town wide naming contest. The name comes from a line in the song America The Beautiful, written by Falmouth native Katharine Lee Bates. The Shining Sea Bikeway hugs the coast from Falmouth to Woods Hole and then beyond to North Falmouth, winding along the Vineyard Sound shoreline. Ideal for casual and beginner cyclists, it was built on a former railroad right-of-way. The paved path is level for nearly its entire 10.7-mile distance with only a slight grade in certain spots. Lined with familiar Cape Cod flower and tree species, it makes for a wonderful ride from Falmouth to scenic Woods Hole. Following the Old Colony rail line, the newer extension passes through Sippewissett Marsh, by cranberry bogs and overlooks Chapaquoit Beach. The entire route avoids much of Falmouth's notorious summer traffic by winding along the coastline and crisscrossing the Salt Pond Bird Sanctuary. This is a frequently used area in-season, so be sure to respect the rights of others, especially inline skaters and runners.

This beach requires a town beach sticker during the day, but after 5 you can bring the little grill and have a cookout, and watch the sunset over the water.

This is our personal favorite restaurant. Family place where the locals dine. Best clam chowder, stuffed quahogs, and lazy man's lobster. If you have kids, they will love dining in the caboose!

The Sandwich Historical Society and its Glass Museum collects, preserves, and interprets the history of the Town of Sandwich, MA, the oldest town on Cape Cod. A large part of Sandwich history is involved with American glass production. The Sandwich Glass Museum has “Relit the Fires in Sandwich” with a glass furnace and new exhibits to better tell the story of the glass industry in Sandwich. While we will not be able to completely recreate that booming, smoking glass factory, our visitors are able to feel the heat from the glory hole on their faces. They can watch the glassblower turn and twist the hot glass into wonderful forms, and visions of those former days will not be so difficult to u
