I suppose you could call the decor worn-coastal-look, anyhow it's a great place to stop off on the Causeway between the mainland and the island. It overlooks Portland Harbour where you can watch the kite surfers and harbour activity.

When I say 'Food Scene' and 'Restaurant' it is much more than this. Chesil Beach Centre is owned by Dorset Wildlife Trust and is a centre for wildlife and environmental exhibitions plus you can book a boat trip from here. There is also a small cafe, Taste, which serves good food, for instance pork, cider & mustard pie with fresh vegetables, lovely coffee and really good cakes and scones. The daily specials are always interesting and good portions too.

There is also a small cafe, Taste, which serves good food, for instance pork, cider & mustard pie with fresh vegetables, lovely coffee and really good cakes and scones. The daily specials are always interesting and good portions too.
You will get the best views along the Jurassic Coastline both East and West, from this cafe/restaurant. The food is prepared by the inmates of the prison and boy, do they cook well.....very reasonable pricing too.

You simply must go and see the lighthouse, and the Pulpit Rock. At certain times of the year you can have a guided tour of the lighthouse, right up to top, with a lovely and very amusing guide.

Our very own theatre....quaint really doesn't do it justice, as it is a perfect miniature of a large theatre. We have been there to see quality amateur dramatics, youth theatre, bands and groups, pantomimes, hypnotists, comedians, films etc. Fabulous atmosphere and a real treasure for the island.

They are open every day between 10am and 5pm or dusk, whichever is earlier, and welcome visitors.
There is no entry fee as we rely on donations, we sell cups of food for you to feed to the animals.

The West Coast in particular has now become one of the UK's best venues for well-bolted sport routes across the grades. The East Coast offers bouldering and deep water soloing into the mix as well as serving up its own excellent set of sport routes including many in the easier grades.
