Neighborhood Parks

still under construction
This place is literally at the end of the block. Take a leisurely stroll or suit up for a jog and workout at the newly constructed track and outdoor gym. No matter what time of day McCarren Park will be bustling with the people that call Greenpoint/Williamsburg home. Grab a cup of coffee or lunch, enjoy a picnic and take in the sites! You have a quarter mile track, the McCarran Park swimming pool, tennis courts, handball and so much more.

if you make your way east across McGuiness Avenue and deeper into Greenpoint, you'll come upon McGolrick Park. Not as large as McCarran Park but it does span an entire city block. it's a great place to lounge around, relax and take in the sights. There are a few monuments in the park with my favorite being dedicated to the construction of the USS Monitor. it was built by Built by Greenpoint ship building in 1861 and was the first ironclad ship to ever be constructed. in the 1800s Greenpoint was a seafaring community dedicated to shipbuilding and all things nautical.

A little off the beaten path but a wonderful pathway that provides access to the Newtown Creek shoreline. it's still very much an industrial area but it's definitely worth a look. The city of New York has provided access along the front of the Newtown Creek Water Pollution Control Plant. They did a wonderful job providing a very interesting and one of a kind Park. Add it to your morning jog or bike ride.
