A local treasure. If you're looking for a nice lunch the Kalapawai is a favorite for us. They have great sandwiches and in the evening it is a nice casual date spot. The original Kalapawai Maret is in Kailua, easy to spot with its famous green and white paint. No matter if you find yourself on the East or West side of the island, the Kalapawai is always a recommended stop.

Your vacation time is precious! To avoid last-minute target trips, we suggest bringing these two most overlooked items.
- Water shoes
if you plan on visiting any of the beautiful rock formations around island, it is a good idea to pack water shoes. Volcanic rock is SHARP. Save your time (and feet) - pack ahead.
- Bring a jacket
Afternoon rains are common. Bring something light that will keep you dry and comfortable. If you're a mainlander the chances of you being cold are slim. A simple windbreaker is nice to have around.
