This place serves bun bo (beef noodle salad) but you can order the noodle salad without beef and it is still delicious. A big bow is 50,000 vnd ($2.3). Just make sure that you said to the waitress that you're vegan. (Tôi ăn chay!) - Toi awn chaiii

I love all of the tropical fruits at the fruit shop. If you're lucky enough to visit Vietnam during the fruit season (May-August). You'll be amazed at how fresh and tasty these fruits are! Just make sure that you try dragon fruit, mangosteen, longan, lychee, rambutan, durian, and so many more!

Trying a glass of Bia hoi (fresh beer) is a must in Hanoi. There are so many local beer shops on Bat Dan street. A glass of beer is about 13,000 vnd ($0.60). The beer is very light and refreshing. Bia hoi and peanuts are a great combination! Tip: - There is not really a drinking age in Vietnam

My most favorite in town 👌🏻 swipe to see a vegan menu. You're not in Vietnam if you haven't had banh mi. Personally, this is the place I'd recommend you to try banh mi at. Great ambiance, excellent foods, and drinks (quality and hygiene) at "street price." I got vegan banh mi with king oyster mushroom and spicy sauce, extra tofu added. The place is 📍Banh my 25 -25 Hang Ca. Highly recommend!

The host at this restaurant are so kind and generous. The owner shared a bit about his life story and how he came to own this restaurant. He has a heart of gold. The food is all fresh and home cooked feeling, and they just keep bringing you complimentary tofu, rice, soup, salad. We were so full by the end. MUST try! Even if you’re not vegetarian, you need to come here.

Banh ran Luong Ngoc Quyen is a small street food stall located in the Old Quarter of Hanoi. They specialize in banh ran, a type of deep-fried glutinous rice ball filled with sweet mung bean paste. The stall is situated at 5 Luong Ngoc Quyen street and is open from early morning until late at night. Each banh ran is freshly made to order and is a delicious and affordable snack that is popular among locals and tourists alike. The price for each banh ran is just 2,000 VND - 3,000 VND (US$ 0.1). The stall is managed by a very old lady. If you come here at 2 PM, you will find it very busy with lots of locals trying to get some doughnuts.

Here's a great salad made with pickled papaya, fresh herbs, and peanuts. You can find it on Candy Street.

How to find vegan/vegetarian restaurants in Hanoi/Vietnam?

Finding a vegan/vegetarian restaurant might be hard while traveling to Hanoi as most of the restaurants and street food places serve dishes with meat. But you can ask the sellers not to put meat (Banh mi, bun tron, etc) into the dish. There is a better way is to check on the App for vegans like Happy cow or search the keyword "vegan restaurants near me" on Google map.

Good to know

Vegan eating in Vietnam has its roots in Buddhism. Some people commit to a fully vegan diet as a means of being merciful to other species. However, the majority are only partially vegan. This means that each lunar month, they eat a vegan diet for only two or four days (on the full-moon day and new moon day, which can be checked on the lunar calendar online). During that time, many non-vegan vendors switch to making vegan dishes.
