Whatever the weather, the Horniman museum and gardens are a great place to spend a sunny afternoon having a picnic and visiting the butterfly gardens, or a rainy day indoors looking at pre-historic skeletons from the south of England, ancient findings from far places, or a wide library of musical items to look at. Rated one of the most child friendly museums in London, it is great for a family visit, as well as for couples and friends.
A farmers market is held every Sunday, bringing plenty of opportunity for some high quality goods.

Dulwich park and it’s wonderful centre piece cafe feature well kept grounds, and well served food. Although not open late, the restaurant serves a variety of classic English meals, as well as a few European meals too. Plenty of paths, lakes and playgrounds to keep you all busy.

There are also plenty of places to eat out, and a wonderful night scene. Dulwich is also well connected through bus and train routes to get you into London with ease.

Forest hill is a great area for fun, but would advise to be aware late at night. There are plenty of great places to eat at a good price, Forest hill is filled with friendly faces. Many open to the public art exhibitions are held here, where artists open up their work onto the streets. Great places to spend in the sun, go for walks and stretch your legs.
If you want a good long walk, in a place that does not feel, or sound like London, then Sydenham woods is a good quick get away. Located just down the road, it features a huge forest space filled with all different types of nature to observe. Part of the green chain walk.
