Barbacoa is a fine dining restaurant with an exotic flair. We combine the tastes of Mexico, Spain, and the Caribbean to provide a unique fusion dining experience. Barbacoa is a multi-dimensional concept that is more than just a restaurant. Designed by Robert and Martine Castoro in conjunction with Thompson Interiors (2005 National Award Winner for Hotel and Restaurant Design), it’s a museum, an art gallery, and a promise to all of your senses that they all in turn will be touched and stimulated.

Freak Alley is a “notable venue” for murals, graffiti and public art located in an alley in downtown Boise. It is said to be the largest outdoor gallery in the Northwest, and has been a Boise institution since 2002. It began with a painting of a single alley doorway and now extends from the alley itself to gravel parking lot. Freak Alley was established by Colby Akers, Freak Alley Gallery. According to an article from the Arbiter, Akers fell into the project by originally having the opportunity to paint the side of the Moon’s Cafe on the far side of what is now the completed alley. Many neighboring businesses saw this and wanted him to continue his work farther into the space to cover the back of their building. As of 2020, Melissa Nodzu is the new face of Freak Alley. Extant murals painted over and replaced by new murals (or incorporated into them) every few years. It has featured prominently in a survey of ten mid-sized American cities with thriving artistic communities in which Boise ranked second. Freak Alley relies solely on donation and volunteer work to operate the indoor and outdoor facility and accepts anyone interested in becoming a part of its culture.

Idaho City is a city in and the county seat of Boise County, Idaho, United States,[4] located about 36 miles (58 km) northeast of Boise. The population was 485 at the 2010 census, up from 458 in 2000. Idaho City is part of the Boise City−Nampa, Idaho Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Idaho City was founded in December 1862 as “Bannock” (sometimes given as “West Bannock”), amidst the Boise Basin gold rush during the Civil War, the largest since the California gold rush a dozen years earlier. Near the confluence of Elk and Mores Creeks, its plentiful water supply allowed it to outgrow the other nearby camps in the basin, such as Placerville, Pioneerville, and Centerville. As its population swelled, the new Idaho Territorial legislature changed the town's name to “Idaho City,” to avoid confusion with Bannack, in present-day Beaverhead County, the southwestern corner of Montana.

Remember it's Boy C... Not Boy Z... when pronouncing Boise

If you say Boy Z, the locals will know you're an out of towner. Boy C = Boise. Then you can fly under the radar. ;)
