The Royal Albert Dock, a complex of dock buildings and warehouses, was opened in 1846. It was the first structure in Britain to be built from cast iron, brick and stone, with no structural wood. As a result, it was the first non-combustible warehouse system in the world. Today the Albert Dock is one of Liverpool's most important tourist attractions and a vital component of the city's UNESCO world heritage Maritime Mercantile City. It is also the most visited multi-use attraction in the United Kingdom outside London, with in excess of four million visitors per year. Amongst the many attractions at the Albert Dock are the Merseyside Maritime Museum, the Beatles Story and the Tate Liverpool. The only Slavery museum in the world is located in Albert Dock. Interesting fact: 'Liverpool was the first port using docks with artificial tides, reducing waiting time to serve the ships from 3 weeks to 2 and a half days.' 'After the discovery of the Americas and with more and more ships setting out to explore the rest of the world, sailors started bringing back some new products and the first bananas and pineapples to come to Europe came through Liverpool.' https://albertdock.com/ https://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/merseyside-maritime-museum https://www.beatlesstory.com/ https://www.tate.org.uk/visit/tate-liverpool https://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/international-slavery-museum

Officially known as the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King and locally nicknamed "Paddy's Wigwam", is the seat of the Archbishop of Liverpool and the mother church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Liverpool. The two Liverpool's cathedrals are linked by Hope Street, which takes its name from William Hope, a local merchant whose house stood on the site now occupied by the Philharmonic Hall, and was named long before either cathedral was built. Quirky info: 'In 2012, incredibly, the cathedral was named one of the ugliest buildings in the world by American news network CNN.' https://www.liverpoolmetrocathedral.org.uk/

Where it all started. It's a MUST visit. Live music every day. Quirky info: 'The Beatles performed 299 times at the Cavern Club. Most of the time, the Beatles would perform during the day and people were so crazy about them they would queue in front of the Cavern Club during their lunch break, eating a sandwich on the go just to get to see them play a couple of songs.' 'Back in the 60s when the Bealtes were playing there, they didn’t even have an alcohol licence and fire exit.' 'According to “legend”, there is a secret tunnel between the Cavern pub and the Cavern club that was used so the bands could drink at the pub and just jump in the tunnel to get straight out on stage in the Club.'

This neighbourhood is the very place where the Beatles story began. In July 1957, 15-year-old Paul McCartney was introduced first time to 16-year-old John Lennon by a mutual friend. John performed with his band The Quarrymen at a garden fete at St Peter Church. Just around the corner there is a plaque reminding of this meeting. On the graveyard itself, the grave of Eleanor Rigby featured in the 1966 Beatles’ song can be found.

Many Beatles' songs deal about their Liverpool childhood memories. So does this song released in 1967. Most of the places mentioned in the song are still around, such as the barber's shop, the bus shelter in the middle of the roundabout, the bank, and the fire station. Also around is St Barnabas Church, where Paul was once a choirboy and where his brother Mike got married in May 1982. Fun fact: 'As the famous street signs repeatedly had been stolen by fans from all over the world, the city of Liverpool decided to paint some of them on the brick walls instead.'

It has been the home of Liverpool Football Club since their formation in 1892. It was originally the home of Everton from 1884 to 1891, before they moved to Goodison Park after a dispute with the club president. The club's first match at Anfield was a friendly played in front of 200 people on 1 September 1892, against Rotherham Town. Liverpool won 7–1. Outside the stadium is a bronze statue of Bill Shankly, famous LFC manager, in a familiar pose he adopted when receiving applause from fans and The Hillsborough memorial. The memorial is always decorated with flowers and tributes to the 96 people who died in 1989 as a result of the disaster. https://stadiumtours.liverpoolfc.com/tours

A prohibition-themed bar that has been put together with great attention to detail. The bartenders dress smart, are knowledgeable and have an envious stash of cocktail recipes stored in their minds. It’s quite easy to walk past Berry & Rye, which is hidden on Berry Street in Liverpool, but once you find it, you’ll discover a bar filled with jazz, blues and more gin cocktails than you can shake a stick at.
