World-famous Postojna cave is just a few minutes away. It is a must-see when visiting Slovenia!
To get inside the cave, you will first take a an electric cave train, and then you will explore the cave on foot with a tour guide. There are so many spectacular stalactites and stalagmites to see.
When buying a ticket you can add on also a visit to Predjama castle (there is also a shuttle service from Postojna Cave to the castle in July and August), Vivarium (this is where you can see some animals that live in the cave including the Olm/baby dragon and learn about basics of karstology and speleobiology), and Expo Cave Karst (world's largest exhibition on the Karst and Postojna Cave).
However, keep in mind that the cave has a constant temperature of about 10 degrees Celsius, so bring a jacket and also wear good shoes since the cave is humid and can be slippery.

For example , you can: arrange a horse back-riding lessons, take a guided tour, watch a Lipizzaner performance, or take a horse carriage ride. Children can also learna bout ponies and ride them with a guide.
There is also a golf course there, one of the best in Slovenia.

Lake Cerknica (Cerkniško jezero) is one of the largest intermittent lakes in Europe. The water is present for about eight months of the year, and during this time, you can go paddling, canoeing, or fishing. However, during the dry season the lake disappears.

Vipava Valley is know for its exceptionally fine wine and food, beautiful karst landscapes and small villages and town with rich history and even medieval castles.
Here you can find many wineries where you can sample the local wines or follow the Vipava Valley Wine Road. There are also several picturesque hiking trails in the region and you can also explore the valley on a bike.
There are also two Michelin-starred restaurants located in the Vipava Valley: Dam in Nova Gorica and Gostilna Pri Lojzetu which is located in a 17th-century Dvorec Zemono, near Vipava.

Sneznik is a 1796m high mountain about an hour away from Postojna. On the top of the mountain, there is a beautiful panoramic view, which ranges from the sea (Kvarner bay, Croatia) and all the way to the Alps .

There is a mountain cabin on the top which is open on the weekends during summer months, where you can order something to eat (jota, strudel) and drink.
