The Pirate Bar is family run, serving homemade breakfast, freshly brewed coffee, lunch (until 5pm), as well as fantastic cocktails all day long. They always have vegetarian food options and take great care to source fresh local ingredients. Our personal favorites are fresh gnocchi, carrot cake (yum!), and rosemary and grapefruit Romero Collins cocktail. After 11pm it turns into a lively party spot.

This was a family villa of Lazaros Kountouriotis, an important figure in the fight for Greek independence. It is now a museum that will give you a sense for what life was like 200 years ago. There are examples of rooms preserved exactly the way the family would have had them set up, traditional Greek dress, jewellery and paintings. A majestic building with a special history, this site is only two minutes away from the house.

March to October: daily except Monday, 10.00 - 14.00 and 17.30 - 20.30.
Group visits during the winter months on request.

My favorite beach - perfect turquoise waters in an embrace of fragrant pine trees. There are steep stairs leading down to the water. It’s a good idea to bring water shoes to protect feet from pebbles and sea urchins. Unfortunately it is fenced off at the moment for the danger of rocks sliding.
Pebble beach in Kamini village. This beach is about 15 min walk from the house. It has a bar and restaurant attached to it, and the option of renting a lounge chair.

Walks and hikes
Vlichos trail is a lovely picturesque and very easy to walk trail around the island. You can start at the Spilia bar and follow the trail along the water all the way to Vlichos village. Then take a left turn inland before the arched bridge to get back. The trail will lead you back to the upper Hydra town. Enjoy stunning views, occasional sheep, donkey, and chicken crossing your path.

One hour and 15 mins hike up the mount Eros will take you to this pretty monastery. The views are stunning and the terrain moderate. Wear good sneakers, pack water, and make sure to head out early before the sun gets too hot.
