Our neighborhood grocer and amazing cooperative. Mandela Foods Cooperative is primarily a black worker owned coop that not only provides food to us in West Oakland, but supports other coops as they establish.

Walk straight down Chester, continue past BART, and find the dog park. While maintenance could be better, this dog park offers an amazing amount of space to roam and most of the owners have been courteous and responsive to their dogs.

There are a few pet stores nearby - including Pet Club - but Pet Food Express towards Piedmont has been the most consistent. Their prices haven't been higher than Pet Club, and their selection is more consistently supportive of happy healthy pets.
(They also collaborate with many local shelters, especially during kitten season)
